Project Overview

The Leadership in Engineering Education Accreditation Program strengthened engineering education quality in Indonesia by advancing accreditation readiness, institutional leadership and data-driven program improvement. Through focused collaboration with Andalas University, LEEAP laid the groundwork for international recognition and contributed to long-term modernization of Indonesia’s technical workforce.

Advancing International Accreditation in Indonesian Engineering Education

Launched from 2015 to 2016, LEEAP was a collaboration among Arizona State University, the USAID–Indonesia Higher Education Leadership and Management Project and Andalas University in Padang, Indonesia. The program strengthened the quality and global competitiveness of engineering programs by preparing institutions to meet regional and international accreditation standards.

Building on lessons from VULII and HEEAP, LEEAP supported Andalas University in aligning academic programs with the ASEAN University Network–Quality Assurance framework and Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology standards. Through workshops, mentoring and leadership coaching, the program helped faculty define student learning outcomes, design assessment strategies and establish continuous improvement systems.
