Project Overview

The Higher Engineering Education Alliance Program strengthened Vietnam’s engineering and technical education system by aligning universities, industry and government around global best practices. Through faculty training, leadership engagement and expanded access to opportunity, HEEAP contributed to systemic improvements in teaching quality, student competency and institutional capacity, supporting Vietnam’s long-term technology-driven economic growth.

Key Achievements and Strategic Approach

  1. Faculty Development at Scale
    Trained more than 5,300 faculty members through programs delivered at ASU and in Vietnam, strengthening instructional quality and modern engineering pedagogy.
  2. Leadership and Institutional Capacity
    Supported university leaders and ministry officials through conferences, collaborative dialogue and large-scale capacity-building initiatives.
  3. Expanding Access and Inclusion
    Awarded more than 400 vocational scholarships for women and supported advanced graduate fellowships at ASU, broadening participation in engineering education.
  4. Global Convenings and Knowledge Exchange
    Hosted the Vietnam Engineering Education Conference, convening more than 400 academic, government and industry leaders annually to advance global standards and collaboration.
  5. Infrastructure for Ongoing Collaboration
    Established distance-learning classrooms and hands-on workshops that enabled sustained professional development and cross-border partnership.
