Lean and Six Sigma have been used for decades and their impact can be far-reaching with significant financial gains as evidenced by companies such as Toyota, General Electric, and Xerox. Although the origins and initial utilization of these methodologies and tools are in manufacturing and date back to the post-WWII industrial boom, they have gained a strong foothold across all industry sectors in recent years as well as increased usage across all functional areas within those organizations adopting a continuous improvement culture.
The ASU Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate program accredited by Ira A.Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU examines how Lean and Six Sigma are used together to provide breakthrough improvements for organizations. The course follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology; a four-step cycle that guides continuous improvement and operations excellence. The PDCA methodology provides a series of quality improvement tools and a roadmap for developing continuous improvement solutions to existing problems, processes, services, and products.
The ASU Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certificate program consists of six hours of interactive in-person instruction covering the quality tools and concepts of Lean and Six Sigma. Instructors will facilitate collaborative sessions that empower individuals with six tools that can be immediately deployed in their individual work areas. Additionally, instructors will work with participants throughout the program to ensure each participant obtains a solid understanding of the material that can be applied to their unique organizational challenges.
